Regional IT Corporation invited to join industry leaders at CeBIT Australia 2010

Veritech Corporation is a small regional based IT firm in Griffith NSW that has been selected by the Department of Industry and Investment NSW to showcase its innovative technology at Australia’s leading technology conference CeBIT in Sydney from May 24-26.

CeBIT Australia 2010 is guaranteed to be a solution finding, industry and government networking, cost-saving and education summit like no other. It is the event that everyone attends, from vendors to buyers, decision-makers from commerce, government and services, as well as professionals across the complete spectrum of industry.

Veritech has been selected by Department of Industry and Investment NSW from thousands of small businesses across NSW to attend the CeBIT conference and showcase its Australian designed and made technology, the Veritoken, on the Australian Technology Showcase stand, along with eleven other Australian innovators.

Veritoken is Veritech's solution for a simple, portable and secure Virtual Private Network (VPN) client device. Designed to complement Endian Firewall Appliances, or any other OpenVPN Server, the Veritoken is a USB Token device which provides an all-in-one VPN Client Solution.

Veritech Corporation CEO Livio Mazzon is excited to be part of such a significant industry event.   “This is Australia's largest IT Expo, and we are quite honoured and proud to be there in 2010!! With the support from the Department we now have the opportunity to formally present our Veritoken in the marketplace and compete directly with global leaders in the industry” commented Mr Mazzon.

The innovative Veritoken is a simple USB token that is easy to carry and provides simple remote access to the central office. With a personal notebook or at an Internet Cafe or other computer the Veritoken gives users secure access back to the workplace, and leaves no access for others once removed. Staff can now travel and work, and have full secure access to the workplace network - wherever they are.

The Veritoken concept was borne whilst trying to find a VPN solution for business sites which were located in remote locations.  The problem became obvious when the remote site had an Internet connection that was two-way satellite only, and the latency of the link was quite high.  Protocols such as IPSEC and PPTP do not work well over high latency link; they retry, reconnect and generally stutter incessantly when there are less than perfect round-trip times.  Even if users are lucky enough to establish the initial connection, data throughput is seriously reduced because of the packet retransmission.

The OpenVPN protocol provided the solution; as a lightweight protocol, it is less concerned with latency and the end result is a much more stable VPN tunnel.  With this amazing discovery, Veritech developed the Veritoken as a pre-packaged OpenVPN client device which is easy to install, and even easier to use.  The device can be used anywhere, and its physical portability works hand-in-hand with its robust networking traits.

By using a physical USB token, and a username/password combination the Veritoken offers two factor authentication; a connection to the workplace can only be initiated with an authorised person in possession of their token.

Veritech Corporation CEO Livio Mazzon believes that a significant advantage over the competition is how easy the Veritoken is to install.
“Other VPN clients have bloated software packages with complex installation procedures that generally hook deeply into the operating system; consequently, trying to uninstall these VPN Client installations is complex and messy. Generally, if you have one IPSEC software installed on a computer, it’s not possible to install a second package.  This is because they rely on the same kernel libraries and they restrict multiple versions on the same machine.  OpenVPN however can co-exist happily with IPSEC, L2TP, PPTP all on the same machine.  The Veritoken itself supports an unlimited number of VPN connections all on the same token", Mr Mazzon said.

Interested parties can learn more about, and trial the innovative Veritoken at CeBIT. Veritech Corporation will be exhibiting at the CEBIT conference in Sydney from May 24 to 26, at the Darling Harbour Exhibition Centre. They can be found at stand S40, the Australian Technology Showcase.
